These board marker style infrared pens are powered by a single AAA battery for longer life and familiarity. The manual version has a switch to turn on the infrared pen while the nib version turns on when pressed against a hard surface, such as a whiteboard, and turns off when it is lifted - making for a 'normal' writing action on the board (except for being able to do all that fancy stuff a computer can do!). The infrared pen turns any hard surface into an interactive whiteboard when combined with the Wii remote and SmoothBoard software. Go to Store |

Our infrared pens are powerd by a single AAA battery, we used to sell pens powered by the small LR41 batteries (button cell style), sometimes labelled as AG3/LR41/LR736/192 but found that the life of these in normal classroom situations to be too short. To replace the battery (to the left as shown on the above pictures), pull the red stopper out to reveal the battery pack, tap this out and replace the battery. Be careful not to snag the wires when replacing. The infrared pen while a nifty tool isn't exactly in the league of metaphysics or broadband internet technology so it shouldn't be too hard to handle.
The LED used in these pens is the VISHAY TSAL6400.
